LOCK5, experts in creative design and fit-out, were delighted to partner with Neptunus and AP&Co at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show. LOCK5 contributed our expertise to the VIP hospitality areas of Spring Gardens and QEII, where HRH King Charles and HRH Queen Camilla were notable visitors.
The Project
In Spring Gardens, LOCK5 crafted special dining chalets using a mix of reusable stock and custom lining. In this first year of contract, we introduced a reusable, adaptable shaker style walling system that could be tweaked as required in future years, fully embracing the principles of sustainability. A natural-looking modular pergola was complemented by entrance features, graphics, and bespoke lighting to create the perfect backdrop for a luxury dining experience.
At QEII, LOCK5 coupled adaptability with timeless charm with a reusable Georgian walling system. This flexible design, paired with a stock roof and bespoke lighting, created an elegant setting fit for royalty.
Behind the Scenes
Beyond the glamour, LOCK5’s meticulous touch extended to vital aspects like restrooms, walkways and back of house areas. Numbers speak volumes – the project involved over 900 square metres of walls built and painted by hand, over 550 square metres of decking sanded and stained and 100 linear metres of stainless steel handrail, polished and shined, showcasing our attention to detail and dedication to the event.
Challenges
The organic nature of the site posed challenges – each year as trees grow and landscapes change, the structure can shift slightly, affecting the heights, entrance positions and levels. LOCK5 met each challenge creatively, from moveable partitions to adapting the pergola to fit the evolving space.
In early 2023, AP&Co secured the RHS contract, and from February to May, quick and efficient actions took place. Conversations began in February with designs finalised by the end of March, and the LOCK5 team preparing and building throughout April. The highlight came in the first two weeks of May with the successful installation, showcasing LOCK5’s dedication and efficiency.
LOCK5’s purpose at RHS Chelsea Flower Show wasn’t just about creative design and fit-out; it was a journey of adaptability, teamwork and commitment to turning spaces into art, and we were proud to have added our touch to this annual celebration of nature.
As we reflect on our successful collaboration with Neptunus and AP&Co at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in previous years, LOCK5 now looks forward to 2024 and our continued commitment to excellence in creative design and fit-out.
